the last diary entry [11 Oct 2006|12:14pm]

[ mood | calm ]

word #593 for daily15. A small story...and it's been a while since I've written one. So I'm happy, despite its quality. :)

Author's note: rated PG for slight references.

is this community still active?

new community anyone? [16 Jan 2006|02:23pm]

realmofwords is a new community that was created today, so basically there is no members. I created it in hope of people (like myself) finding it who write often and like to write creativly. I want to create a community that offers feedback often, is active and has enough dedicated members to keep it going.

I can't promise that this is what the community will be like, but this is its aim, so if anyone is intrested in helping me evolve this, please join.

I'm hoping to get about 10 or 11 members (more at first to ensure activity) that are dedicated enough to try and make it work, offering support and feedback for one another.

Anyway, I hope everyone gives it a try.

Ok, so it's been dead for about a month here, but I really want to get back up and running. There is a new challenge up HERE, and I would really love it if you could all enter! I'll leave the challenge up until we have enough entries, so I guess that's going to be the week after Christmas or somewhere around there. Thanks!

Challenge # 4 [19 Oct 2005|09:03am]

[ mood | anxious ]

Sorry about the late submission! I debated entering this piece because while it took place in a fantasy fandom, the fantasy side doesn't really show, and I wasn't sure if that was okay. But I decided to post it anyway, and if it doesn't qualify...it's just something for you guys to read. :) Also kinda longish...hope that's okay.

Title: To Sin Alone
Author: Melanthe Vida
Rating: PG-13
Words: 2412
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Warnings: Language, violence…could be read as shonen-ai, but not really.
Disclaimer: Not mine, of course.

Summary: A bullet. A gun. A game. And Reno thinks about exactly what his partner is there for. One-shot.

Challenge #4 - idealfiction

Title: “Perhaps a fantasy.”
Author: Yours Truly!
Word Count: 604
Rating: PG-13, to be on the safe side.

Author’s Notes: I wasn’t sure about the word limit, because I know it got changed a few times. Hope this is okay! Also, this is written (again) in first person. I’m doing a lot of experimenting with this type of writing. Constructive criticism would be appreciated; I finished this at midnight last night. Life is crazy :). Bring on the next challenge!

Wow, guys, everyone seemed so excited in this community at first but now it seems like no one is entering. The only 2 people who voted on the last challenge were the people who entered. So yay, guys, it's a tie!

Please enter the next challenge - Fantasy. 300-350 words, due this Friday. Can be from a fandom or original, open ended challenge as always.

new challenge [03 Oct 2005|06:19pm]

Considering how I am now rereading the fourth Harry Potter before the movie comes out, our new challenge is going to be....

This means any fandom having to do with science fiction, magic, etc. Examples would be Harry Potter, Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and anything else having to do with fantasy.

If you don't watch/read any of those, as usual, you can always write a piece of original fiction having to do with fantasy in any sense. It's your call how to write it and work the theme in.

Your 300-350 word piece is due Friday, October 7.

help! [16 Sep 2005|10:42am]

[ mood | distressed ]

Hi people! This isn't a story. I have a question, and since this is a group of writers, I thought that you'd be a good group of people to ask!

My question is regarding prose writing. Recently, I started experimenting in short story writing. I have a three-thousand word story due in fifteen days. I have about 150 words of it done, and I have a tiny bit of the plot scribbled on a scrap of paper. My problem is that I’ve only written one other thing that long in my entire life. Yes, I’m scared lol. From past experience, I tend to get sick of the story if I make a plot out before I start writing, and then I’ll leave it for something new. My question is: How do I make myself stay with something that I’m tired of, without making a trial out of it? I know I need to work on my discipline, if I’m ever going to progress in this area...but it’s difficult. Any suggestions?

Challenge #3 [14 Sep 2005|12:33am]

Title: Ashes to Ashes - part two of segment one of the expanded rewrite
Author: thefaeway, akas: Tryna @ Warcry.com, Shadow Spire (FF.net) & David (my name!)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 378

Hm. I ended up writing something that I feel may qualify for this challenge, so that's what's here. It is actually part of the expanded rewrite of my entry to the very first challenge, though you won't recognize much if anything in this excerpt.

It follows somewhat with quote #2 real nice, I think. Have fun reading. :D

the next assignment [12 Sep 2005|10:29pm]

Challenge #3 - idealfiction

Title: “The Next Assignment.”
Author: Yours Truly :)
Word Count: 649
Rating: PG-13

Author’s Notes: Alrighty, here you go! I used the quote that read “I didn’t deserve to forget that I had turned my back on her. Oblivion wiped the books clean. It was too easy.” as the basis for this story. Not sure if it makes much sense..it seems a bit too vague to me. Oh well. I haven’t any time to edit it at the present. Enjoy! :)

Mid-challenge reminder. Entries due next Friday, September 16. The challenge post is H E R E.

I know we're all busy with school, but the piece can be incredibly short if you like. There's restriction on length. Changing the 200-800 word restriction to any length at all. Any.

Have fun writing!
